The Apple TV Plex app has a great interface, but due to limitations in codec support it has limitations. The client makes a big difference as well. If transcoding has to occur, results differ depending upon the device running the Plex Server. On your computer, on a NAS, or even on a router (NetGear Nighthawk X10) with attached or NAS storage. It just seems cleaner to go through a consistent interface.There are a number of places you can run Plex. There might be tokens or headers that are missed or messed up. I would like these Home Assistant components to use the plexapi as much as possible without having to parse xml directly or interface with requests separately. I had something working but knew it would be best if there was better support in plexapi.

I decided it would be nice to add the live update and started playing with that. There is a new plexdevice component someone is working on to make the Home Assistant plex view look nicer. Then they asked for shuffle support - one of the enhancements I requested here.
